Pops of color will dress Connecticut's night skies for the next week as towns throughout the state celebrate the Fourth of July.

Whether you're at a baseball game, a town fair or simply sprawled out in an empty field, there are plenty of places around the state where you can catch fireworks this year.

While these public displays might inspire at-home fireworks shows, leave lighting fireworks to the professionals. In Connecticut, fireworks are illegal to own and light off. Only "sparklers and fountains," which are not considered fireworks, may be purchased and used by individuals over the age of 16, according to the state's Department of Consumer Protection.
