Another coastal storm could bring heavy rain, gusty winds
The National Weather Service says Connecticut could get hit with a coastal storm bringing heavy rain and strong winds on Wednesday.
Between 1 to 3 inches of rainfall is possible Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night from the developing low pressure system.
Localized flash flooding will also be an issue for low-lying coastal roads if heaviest rain coincides with the Wednesday night’s high tide.
In in its weather discussion, the NWS says, “A cold front approaches Wednesday, and low pressure deepens as it tracks just south and east of Long Island late Wednesday and Wednesday night.
“Clouds increase Wednesday morning, and rain will move in during the afternoon and evening. The rain will be heavy at times, and a rumble or two of thunder is possible.
“Onshore gusty winds develop ahead of this storm system Wednesday, and temperatures will warm into the 60s despite the clouds and rain.
“As the low deepens Wednesday night, moving northeast along the New England coast Thursday, winds will shift around to the west or northwest and will be quite strong. Rain tapers off Wednesday night, but clouds and a few showers are expected into Thursday.”
Temperatures will be noticeably cooler Thursday, in the 50s, and the strong winds will add to the chill.
On Tuesday, there will be plenty of sunshine as high pressure builds over the area.
Temperatures will warm into the 60s, right around or a degree or two below seasonal normals. The high passes east tonight.
Mostly clear skies and light winds will allow temperatures to fall into the 40s and 30s on Thursday.
