SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
National Weather Service HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX
329 AM CDT Fri Jun 24 2022
...HEAT INDEX VALUES BETWEEN 102 AND 106 DEGREES ARE EXPECTED
THIS AFTERNOON AND TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE BRAZOS VALLEY WILL
APPROACH 103 DEGREES...
The upper level high pressure remains overhead, helping to
increase temperatures throughout the day. High temperatures will
reach the triple digits for most locations north of I-10 and the
Brazos Valley could approach 103 degrees this afternoon. Areas
south of I-10 will reach the mid to upper 90s, but the sea breeze
pushing through in the afternoon could make heat index values
climb a little further. Overall, heat index values will reach 102
to 106 this afternoon across Southeast Texas.
Heat-related illnesses and deaths are preventable, and all heat
safety precautions should be taken even if there is no Heat
Advisory in effect. Stay in air-conditioned locations as much as
possible. Wear light colored, lightweight and loose fitting
clothes. If outdoors, avoid strenuous activity and stay hydrated
by drinking plenty of water. Take frequent breaks from the heat.
Never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles as interior
temperatures can reach lethal levels in just a matter of minutes.
